According to Fedex, at 9:55am, on Wednesday, August 26th, Jillian and I officially got married!!! I finally got around to next-daying the green marriage license form yesterday, only 11 months and 20 days late. Now that it has been received I think we can sleep easy knowing that a tax audit would come up with only minor inaccuracies (such as that we did not, in fact, donate $45,000 towards green technologies), instead of showing that we filed jointly when we were not technically married.
For those of you who were wondering what we thought of this whole thing, both Jillian and I think it’s pretty funny. And it’s a great story to tell people at the bar :”Haha, we weren’t actually married the first year we were married,” we will say. This will be followed by a “OMG! That’s so crazy!” Good times.
And for those of you who are joking around about being able to celebrate 2 anniversaries, that’s not only crazy but ridiculously expensive and stressful. I have enough on my plate already with the one coming up. I wouldn’t be surprised, though, if in the future we raised a beer in honor of this day: “To the best 11 months of being unmarried ever, cheers!”
