So I just got an email from Samantha’s mom who says after about a week and a half of tests saying otherwise, Samantha DID, in fact, have Kawasaki’s Disease. They are understandably upset in this situation because doctor after doctor told them she simply had a really bad case of Strep, and sent her home taking a baby aspirin everyday. Turns out she should be taking 2000 mg of aspirin a day to protect her heart.
But according to Brooks, Samantha is feeling much better, is eating and drinking, and the swelling in her limph nodes has gone down. The issue is that Kawasaki’s Disease, which is a temporary inflammation of the blood vessels, has left Samantha with the risk of having an aneurysm and cardio problems. She no longer has the disease, but the damage to the system lingers on.
The whole family is home now with Walker, who I’m sure is thinking about how much he misses me right now.
